Marco Donà is a Research Associate in the Glass & Façade Technology (gFT) Research Group. His current research focuses on the connection of a new generation of fibre reinforced polymer sandwich panel system and their design methods suitable for geometrically complex building. This project is funded by Innovate UK, EPSRC and the industrial partner Newtecnic and supervised by Dr. M. Overend.
Marco joined the gFT Group in June 2015 with several diverse experiences both as researcher and chartered engineer. After completing a masters degree in Structural Engineering at the University of Padova, he worked for three years as structural engineer in different engineering companies in Italy where he was involved in the study of a broad range of complex structures. He then moved to the UK where he obtained a PhD in Structural Engineering at Loughborough University on “Static and dynamic analysis of multi-cracked beams with local and non-local elasticity”, and worked as research associate on experimental validation of non-local theories for wave propagation in heterogeneous material.
